Biography

Eric Spade is a trial attorney with extensive experience in State and Federal courts across the United States.  Since 1996, he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation, especially in complex litigation.  He is highly skilled in the courtroom and has a broad range of experience on matters involving personal injury claims, wrongful death claims, product liability claims, civil rights claims, defamation claims, insurance defense and insurance bad faith claims, breach of contract and business tort claims, construction law and real estate law claims, government contract claims, and federal securities claim.

He studied communications and graduated from American University in 1989.  He graduated from the law school at Cleveland State University in 1995.  He obtained a master's in law from the New York University School of Law in 2002.  In law school at Cleveland State University he was the editor-in-chief of the Cleveland State Law Review, and at the New York University School of Law he was a graduate editor of the New York University Journal of International Law and Politics.

During 1995-1996 term of court, Mr. Spade clerked for the Honorable Monroe G. McKay on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.  From 1996 to 2001, he worked as an associate attorney in the litigation department of Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur, LLP.  From 1998 to 2001, he also taught Advanced Brief Writing and Oral Advocacy at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University.  From 2002 to 2005, he worked as an associate attorney at Frey, Petrakis, Deeb, Blum, Briggs & Mitts, P.C.  From 2005 to 2006, he was a partner at Mitts, Milavec & Spade, LLC.  In 2006, he started a law practice as a sole-practitioner.

Mr. Spade became a member of the Ohio bar in 1995, of the Pennsylvania bar in 2002, and of the New Jersey bar in 2006.  He has an A.V. rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

In addition to being admitted to practice law in the states of New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania, he was admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in 1995, before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1996, before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in 1998, before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in 1997, before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in 1999, before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in 2003, before the United States Court of Claims in 2004, and before the United States District Court for New Jersey in 2006.

Mr. Spade has been a member of the American Bar Association since 1993.  Also since 1993, he has been a member of the Ohio State Bar Association.  At the Ohio State Bar Association he served as a 12th District Delegate on the Council of Delegates from 1997 to 2001.  He has been a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Philadelphia Bar Association since 2003.  From 1997 to 2001, He was an associate in the William K. Thomas Inn of Court, American Inn of Court No. 91, in Cleveland, Ohio.

From 1997 to 1998, he was a volunteer member of Towards Employment, Inc., a non-profit company that helped people with the transition from welfare to permanent employment in Northern Ohio.  From 1998 to 2001, he served on the Board of Trustees for Towards Employment, Inc.
